A design that blends into everyday life, making the ordinary feel special.

Preserving Yonezawa-ori’s Craftsmanship While Bringing It Closer to Everyday Life with a Fresh Perspective.

Nitorito is a creative unit founded by Suzuki from Yonezawa and Saito from Kanagawa, bringing together their unique perspectives to crafted textiles rooted in Yonezawa’s rich weaving tradition. Their primary products include stoles and blankets, carefully crafted to maximize the potential of Yonezawa-ori, a textile heritage dating back to the Edo period.

From yarn dyeing to weaving/knitting, finishing, and sewing, every step of the process is entrusted to local factories. The goal is to showcase the exceptional craftsmanship of Yonezawa, proudly carrying the label “Made in YONEZAWA” as a commitment to preserving, promoting, and using local industry.

While Yonezawa-ori has traditionally been used for kimono and clothing fabrics, making stoles was an entirely new endeavor. Without altering the production structure, Nitorito challenges the limits of current weaving techniques, pushing beyond conventional constraints. One of their key innovations is designing patterns at the scale of the stole itself—some as large as 33 × 72inches(=85cm x 185cm), resulting in pieces that resemble wearable paintings.

Their distinctive color schemes are carefully curated to bring vibrancy to everyday life while incorporating seasonal hues that reflect each design’s theme. The result is a stole that feels special yet remains timeless, ensuring lasting appeal for daily wear.

We hope people will embrace the region as a whole, and that our craftsmanship will be passed on to future generations.

Though founded in 2020 and still a young brand, Nitorito continues to weave its legacy across Japan and beyond, participating in local events while expanding its reach in international markets. But Nitorito is more than just a textile brand—it’s a storyteller. Through each carefully crafted stole, it shares the rich history of Yonezawa-ori, the generations of skilled artisans behind it, and the essence of Yonezawa itself. Wherever they go, their commitment remains the same: to preserve and celebrate this timeless craftsmanship through every thread.

Each Nitorito design carries a distinct name and theme, drawing inspiration from Yonezawa’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural heritage—from rolling mountains and vibrant safflower dyes to the region’s world-famous Yonezawa beef. These elements are transformed into intricate patterns, turning every stole into a wearable piece of art. With just a single rectangle of fabric, Nitorito captures the depth of tradition, craftsmanship, and emotion—creating pieces that are meant to be cherished for years to come.

Whether you have a connection to Yonezawa or are discovering its artistry for the first time, Nitorito’s creations evoke a sense of nostalgia and pride. By blending tradition with innovation, they are not only preserving the legacy of Yonezawa-ori but also shaping its future—one exquisite stole at a time.
